Whether I'm teaching a fitness class, training one-on-one or small group, I generally incorporate varied planks during a session. If you're just starting out, begin with the basics - building the foundation - the frontal plank. Increase your holding time each week until you can achieve a minute. Holding longer doesn't have significant benefits. What's more beneficial after you've mastered the frontal plank, is to corporate movement that challenges the core further which is more functional
